Blogging: Knowing when to take a break
Exams and unforeseen events in the last two weeks have escalated to consume the time I have for my art. I don't want to compromise the quality of these posts because it's simply not fair for the wonderful restaurants and owners that have taken time out to talk to me and share their stories.
I've been seeing more of this lately than my pen and sketchbook.
When Liam advised me to take a break from my blog, my immediate answer was a firm, 'NO'. How could I even think of breaking this schedule for a week? I finally have things to write and draw, I can't stop now...
But sitting in the hospital all weekend, I learned one thing: it doesn't matter how much money you have, how many places you can travel, how many things you own. You can do nothing with them when your health takes its toll.
I'm also writing this as a reminder to you guys. The amount of sleep you have sacrificed to fit more into your life, that injury or constant pain you've been brushing off because you're too busy to get it checked, those poor diets your body has been suffering from because you just don't have time, they will come back to bite you years down the track.
When you've finally achieved your goals and have everything you want, they hardly even matter when you no longer have the energy or the strength to enjoy them.
Never sacrifice your health for anything.
Anyway, this is the one thing I've learned that has helped me come to this decision of taking a break to give myself less stress and more sleep. It may sound extreme or overly dramatic, but I know many of you get the same sense of guilt when it comes to breaking a work related schedule. Prioritize.
With that said, I'll be back in two weeks on July 10th with more Famished Fridays. I will still regularly update my Instagram, so you can keep in touch with me there :)
