Twitter Design Day
Once a year, Twitter invites their Product Designers and Design Researchers from around the world to participate in an All-Hands at their San Francisco HQ. I worked as the sole designer on this project to concept a look and feel that matched their theme of ‘Creativity’. My idea was to illustrate six different types of creatives, and create stickers and posters that designers can relate with. I was given two weeks to come up with a concept and complete all the deliverables.
Initial Concepts
Three different concepts and styles were explored including a visualization of the saying, ‘think outside the box’, and another celebrating creativity through collaboration.
The third concept was where I felt I could push my vision, even though it went beyond the ask of one feature poster for the event. I wanted my design to facilitate the event on a personal level, something that designers could interact with. So my idea was to illustrate different creative personalities. Each designer can choose a sticker that they identify with the most out of the six Creative Types, and use it to identify themselves. This would become an icebreaker and encourage people to start conversations.
The Chosen Concept
The third concept was chosen by Twitter, and from there it became a mad rush to produce not one, but six posters, plus a main poster featuring the summaries of all the personality types. Despite the increased workload, it felt incredibly satisfying to push for an idea I felt so strongly about, and have the opportunity to bring it to life.
